AIR CANADA CENTRE - Phase 2

With the acquisition of the Air Canada Centre by the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs, Atlas was approached by PCL to assist in the design and construction of a storage facility below the already constructed stadium floor. The room was to be constructed within the bedrock and was located well below the water level in Lake Ontario. Using an Atlas Eductor System consisting of 75 eductor wells, the water table was successfully lowered to allow for construction of the storage facility. In order to install the system, Atlas forces worked at night so other ongoing construction activities would not be impeded. The system installation was completed in one week, well ahead of schedule. The dewatering system initially pumped 320 USGPM (1,200 l/min) and operated for five months successfully maintaining water levels below the excavation. |
